Location

Hybrid work arrangement with approximately 2–3 days per week in the office.

Periodic travel within the United States for customer engagements is required, with occasional international travel as business needs dictate.

Base salary $120K-150K + benefits package.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant, Cybersecurity to join a growing cybersecurity advisory practice supporting Japanese multinational enterprises operating throughout North America.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams, helping clients assess cyber risk, strengthen governance programs, improve regulatory readiness, and develop strategic cybersecurity roadmaps. The successful candidate will interact directly with CIOs, CISOs, IT Directors, General Managers, Executive Committees, and Board Members to provide actionable recommendations that align security initiatives with business objectives.

The ideal candidate combines business acumen, cybersecurity expertise, regulatory knowledge, and outstanding communication skills. This position may also serve in a Virtual CISO (vCISO) capacity for selected clients.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Strategy & Advisory

Lead strategic cybersecurity consulting engagements for enterprise customers.

Develop multi-year cybersecurity roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives and risk appetite.

Advise executive leadership on cybersecurity governance, risk management, and program maturity initiatives.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and control evaluations.

Perform readiness assessments and gap analyses against leading frameworks and regulatory requirements, including:

NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)

ISO 27001/27002

NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation

HIPAA Security Rule

CMMC

SOC 2

CIS Controls

Develop remediation plans and implementation recommendations.

Virtual CISO (vCISO) Services

Act as a trusted cybersecurity advisor for organizations lacking dedicated security leadership.

Participate in executive meetings and annual cybersecurity program reviews.

Support cybersecurity governance and strategic decision-making processes.

Security Architecture & Program Development

Review and recommend target-state security architectures across:

Identity & Access Management (IAM)

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Network Security

Endpoint Protection

Cloud Security

Data Protection & DLP

Align cybersecurity programs with modernization and digital transformation initiatives.

Incident Response Advisory

Provide executive-level post-incident guidance and recommendations.

Facilitate root-cause analysis reviews and lessons-learned sessions.

Assist with regulatory notification considerations and remediation planning.

Executive Stakeholder Engagement

Build long-term trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.

Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership teams and boards.

Coordinate with internal delivery, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure successful execution of advisory recommendations.

Practice Development

Contribute to methodology development, service innovation, and thought leadership initiatives.

Mentor junior consultants and support professional development activities.

Participate in customer workshops, industry events, and cybersecurity awareness programs.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, information risk management, IT governance, security consulting, or related advisory disciplines.

Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior consulting, cybersecurity leadership, risk advisory, governance, or Virtual CISO role.

Experience advising executive stakeholders, including CIOs, CISOs, Boards, Audit Committees, and Executive Leadership Teams.

Cybersecurity Knowledge

Working knowledge of:

NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)

ISO 27001/27002

NYDFS Part 500

HIPAA Security Rule

CMMC

CIS Controls

Understanding of enterprise cybersecurity architecture and technology domains, including:

IAM, SSO, MFA

Cloud Security (AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365)

Network Security

Endpoint Security

Vulnerability Management

Data Protection

Education

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

Master's degree preferred.

Certifications

One or more of the following certifications is strongly preferred:

CISSP

CISM

CISA

CRISC

CGEIT

Equivalent cybersecurity certification

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience working with Japanese multinational corporations operating in North America.

Experience in financial services, manufacturing, insurance, telecommunications, trading companies, or other regulated industries.

Experience supporting cybersecurity governance, risk management, internal controls, and compliance programs.

Familiarity with security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, cloud security, or security architecture.

AWS, Azure, Microsoft Security, or other cloud-security-related certifications.

Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, presentations, industry involvement
