Position Summary

Our client, a High-end Japanese restaurant is looking for a General Manager who leads all aspects of restaurant operations, including guest experience, team leadership, financial performance, and daily operations. This role is responsible for maintaining exceptional service standards while developing a high-performing team in a luxury Japanese dining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Manage opening/closing procedures and daily service execution.
  • Monitor labor costs, food costs (COGS), and overall financial performance.
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and California labor regulations.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop restaurant staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on hospitality.
  • Partner with HR on hiring, employee relations, and compliance.

Guest Experience

  • Build relationships with guests and ensure outstanding service.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement service improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of hospitality management experience.
  • 2+ years as a General Manager in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or upscale restaurant concepts.
  • Strong P&L management and labor cost control experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of POS, scheduling, and reservation systems.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience with Japanese cuisine or luxury hospitality.
  • Japanese-English bilingual.
  • California Food Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
