Position Summary
Our client, a High-end Japanese restaurant is looking for a General Manager who leads all aspects of restaurant operations, including guest experience, team leadership, financial performance, and daily operations. This role is responsible for maintaining exceptional service standards while developing a high-performing team in a luxury Japanese dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences.
- Manage opening/closing procedures and daily service execution.
- Monitor labor costs, food costs (COGS), and overall financial performance.
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and California labor regulations.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop restaurant staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on hospitality.
- Partner with HR on hiring, employee relations, and compliance.
Guest Experience
- Build relationships with guests and ensure outstanding service.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement service improvements.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of hospitality management experience.
- 2+ years as a General Manager in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or upscale restaurant concepts.
- Strong P&L management and labor cost control experience.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of POS, scheduling, and reservation systems.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Experience with Japanese cuisine or luxury hospitality.
- Japanese-English bilingual.
- California Food Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
