Company Overview

A well-established Japanese manufacturing company with a global presence is seeking an experienced Japanese Bilingual FP&A Manager to lead financial planning and analysis activities for its U.S. operations. This position plays a key role in supporting executive decision-making, driving financial performance, and serving as the primary liaison between the U.S. organization and the Finance/Corporate Management team at the Japan headquarters.

Position Summary

The FP&A Manager is responsible for leading all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting activities for the U.S. business. This role will supervise a team of three and work closely with department leaders to consolidate financial data, analyze business performance, and provide actionable recommendations to executive management.

The successful candidate will also serve as the primary finance contact with the Japan headquarters, supporting corporate reporting requirements and various strategic projects.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and mid-term business planning.
  • Coordinate budget preparation across all departments.
  • Consolidate departmental budgets into a comprehensive company financial plan.
  • Develop revenue, gross profit, operating expense, and cash flow projections.

Financial Analysis & Forecasting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
  • Perform Budget vs. Actual analysis and investigate variances.
  • Identify key business drivers and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze profitability by product, customer, business unit, or project.
  • Conduct revenue, cost, margin, and operating expense analysis.
  • Support scenario planning and financial modeling based on market conditions and sales projections.

Business Partnership

  • Partner with other departments to collect financial information and improve planning accuracy.
  • Consolidate financial data from multiple departments into standardized management reports.
  • Analyze departmental spending and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

Reporting & Headquarters Support

  • Prepare monthly management reports for U.S. executive leadership and Japan headquarters.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and business performance analyses.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests and special projects from the Japan headquarters.
  • Support strategic initiatives and corporate planning projects as assigned.

Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of three FP&A professionals.
  • Establish priorities, improve financial processes, and promote best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, planning, and financial analysis. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 7–8+ years of experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Financial Analysis, or a related finance function.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and complex formulas;Power BI experince is highly appreciated, but not required.
  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, revenue analysis, cost analysis, and profitability analysis.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
