Company Overview
An automotive manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Manager to lead and maintain its Quality Management System and support customer, production, supplier, and continuous improvement requirements.
Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for administering, maintaining, and improving the company’s Quality Management System in alignment with applicable automotive quality standards, customer requirements, internal objectives, and continuous improvement goals. This role oversees quality activities across production, engineering, supplier performance, documentation, corrective actions, and customer satisfaction. The position reports to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
・Manage and maintain the Quality Management System, including quality manuals, procedures, inspection standards, audits, document control, and quality reporting
・Oversee handling of nonconforming products, returned products, customer concerns, corrective/preventive actions, and product disposition
・Lead quality activities related to PPAP, Gage R&R, process capability studies, statistical process control, and measurement device control
・Manage APQP programs and related quality, technical, and engineering activities
・Audit and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality and customer requirements are met
・Ensure production processes, floor layouts, tooling, checking fixtures, assembly jigs, and related equipment support safe, reliable, and consistent product quality
・Develop and implement departmental action plans and quality objectives aligned with business and continuous improvement plans
・Identify and implement process improvements to reduce variation, prevent nonconformance, and improve customer satisfaction
・Provide quality and technical support for manufacturing process improvements, process changes, and customer requirement compliance
・Train, develop, and evaluate subordinate staff while supporting positive employee relations
・Deploy quality policies and objectives across the organization and ensure understanding at all levels
・Stop production when necessary to address quality issues and protect product quality
・Travel to customer locations occasionally; overnight travel may be required
Qualifications
Required:
・Automotive industry background
・Strong quality fundamentals
・Experience with PPAP, APQP, PDCA, and other quality methodologies
・Ability to work effectively with employees, customers, suppliers, and internal teams
・Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and leadership skills
・Ability to support customer satisfaction and quality objectives
Preferred:
・Engineering background
・Some college education or higher
・Experience managing or supervising quality staff
・Experience with supplier quality, audits, SPC, Gage R&R, and process capability studies
