Field / Machine Technician

A growing company serving the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking a Field / Machine Technician to support the installation, modification, maintenance, and project management of industrial paint systems and related equipment. This position is based in Kentucky and requires approximately 40% travel to customer sites throughout North America, with occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate customer meetings and on-site inspections for paint booths, ovens, conveyor systems, pre-treatment systems, E-Coat systems, and other industrial equipment.
  • Gather customer requirements and communicate technical specifications with global engineering teams.
  • Prepare technical proposals, specifications, and customer documentation.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, prepare cost estimates, and submit customer proposals.
  • Confirm equipment specifications, coordinate shipping and logistics, and manage project schedules.
  • Develop installation plans and construction instructions while coordinating subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Oversee equipment installation and modification projects at customer facilities.
  • Lead project meetings, communicate project status, and prepare project completion reports.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration between customers, engineering teams, and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting industrial equipment installation, maintenance, or project management.
  • Knowledge of paint systems, material handling equipment, or industrial manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Understanding of HVAC and process engineering concepts, including psychrometric charts, duct and piping pressure loss, and heat source fundamentals.
  • Basic knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, material selection, welding, bending, and cutting processes.
  • Familiarity with equipment selection, including pumps, fans, valves, and filters.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40%, including occasional travel within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Japan.
