Japanese trade and logistics company in downtown NYC seeks Japanese bilingual HR & Compliance Manager to lead human resources operations, drive regulatory and trade compliance initiatives, and support smooth organizational functions across our branches.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
Lead full HR operations including performance evaluations, compensation adjustments, job description updates, and employee training programs
Review and enforce HR policies, ensure compliance with employment regulations, and develop SOPs
Serve as the primary contact for employee relations, grievance handling, and issue resolution
Manage payroll and benefit administration (medical, dental, vision, FSA, workers’ compensation, disability, etc.)
Coordinate with vendors for payroll, insurance, and benefit renewal processes
General Affairs Support
Liaise with vendors for insurance and facility management
Manage business licenses (NVOCC, Freight Forwarder, Customs Broker)
Maintain personnel records and review administrative documents and contracts
Provide English/Japanese translation as needed
Trade Compliance Oversight
Stay current on C‑TPAT, TSA, and other regulatory compliance requirements
Manage license renewals, compliance documentation, and internal audits
Conduct staff training and coordinate corrective action for compliance issues
Collaborate with Senior Management to ensure branch‑wide compliance
Leadership & Operational Excellence (Secondary Duties)
Supervise staff, provide performance feedback, and support professional development
Monitor workflow, scheduling, and quality control within HR & Compliance functions
Analyze operational reports and communicate trends to Senior Management
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (B.A./B.S.)
6–8 years of experience in HR, compliance, or related areas
Strong understanding of HR laws, policies, and compliance procedures
Ability to read, write, and present professional materials in English
Strong analytical skills, including ability to solve problems with multiple variables
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to travel and work beyond standard hours when needed
