Position Title: Deputy Director -Japanese Bilingual

Reports To: Executive Director

Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire, Exempt

Salary Range: 87K (DOE)

Work Location: Foster, City, CA Minimum of 3 days per week in the office (with additional days required as needed)

POSITION TITLE: Deputy Director [Full-time]

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deputy Director supports the Executive Director and is responsible for both strategic program development and operational execution of activities. This role balances program design, stakeholder engagement, and day-to-day operations while ensuring effective delivery of programs and services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Program Development & Event Management:

– Develop, implement, and manage programs aligned with organization’s mission

– Manage signature and annual events

– Support program design and topic development

– Coordinate with Committees and stakeholders

– Recruit speakers and develop program content

– Manage logistics, staff, and execution of events

– Support budget planning and execution

2.      Operational & Office Management:

– Oversee daily operations and execution of programs

– Coordinate internal task assignments and accountability

– Manage workload balancing and scheduling

– Support office operations and administrative functions

– Provide backup support during peak periods

3.      Committee & Stakeholder Management:

– Collaborate with Committees and Board leadership

– Improve program ownership across Committees

– Coordinate with community and external stakeholders

– Represent organization as needed

4.      Communication & Information Management:

– Manage membership communication and inquiries

– Track and analyze program data and engagement

– Support bilingual communications

– Manage communication materials and announcements

5.      Digital Platform & Systems:

– Support use of event and digital tools

– Improve operational workflows and systems

6.      Board / Committee Support:

– Prepare reports and presentations

– Support Board meeting logistics and materials

– Manage Board calendar and communications

7.      Additional Responsibilities:

– Support external relations activities

– Assist with internal process improvements

– Perform other duties as assigned

8.      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

– Bachelor’s Degree required

– 2–5 years of relevant experience

– Strong communication skills (Japanese & English)

– Strong organizational and multitasking skills

– Ability to manage ambiguity and work under pressure

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools

9.      WORKING CONDITIONS:

– Office / Hybrid work environment

  Minimum of 3 days per week in the office (with additional days required as needed)

  Potential for weekend work due to events or related activities

  Heavy computer usage

  Occasional travel

  Requires bending, reaching and lifting up to 20 lbs.
