Company Overview

A global logistics and freight forwarding organization is seeking a Customer Service Coordinator to support international air and ocean import/export operations. The role works closely with customers, overseas offices, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accurate shipment processing, timely communication, and smooth delivery coordination.

Position Summary

The Customer Service Coordinator manages air and ocean import or export shipments, providing effective customer service, accurate documentation, shipment tracking, delivery coordination, and issue resolution. This position supports assigned customer accounts and serves as a key contact for shipment status updates and operational inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process air and ocean import/export shipments accurately and on time
  • Prepare and submit customs-related documentation for inbound cargo clearance, as applicable
  • Follow customer-specific SOPs for required processes, data, and documentation
  • Track and trace shipments and coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, CFS, trucking companies, overseas offices, agents, customers, and vendors
  • Arrange freight pickup and delivery with trucking providers
  • Maintain organized shipment files and track status through each operational phase
  • Serve as a primary customer contact for assigned accounts
  • Provide timely shipment updates and notify customers of delays, delivery status, or dispatch issues
  • Maintain and follow SOPs for assigned customer accounts
  • Confirm current pricing information before booking shipments
  • Address customer concerns, troubleshoot errors, and escalate service issues as needed
  • Review exception reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Provide backup support to assigned departments as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of related experience in air and ocean import or export operations
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, domestic transportation modes, and transportation providers
  • Customer service experience with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management, organization, prioritization, and deadline-tracking skills
  • Ability to identify when issues require escalation
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, accountability, and customer-focused work style

Preferred:

  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
  • Experience managing assigned customer accounts in logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or international transportation environments
