A leading Japanese automotive manufacturer is expanding its U.S. operations and is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join its growing team.
Reporting under general supervision, this role is responsible for managing a broad range of HR functions in support of plant associates and leadership. The HR Manager will play a key role in driving employee engagement, strengthening labor relations, and aligning HR initiatives with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop HR practices, processes and strategies which align with the overall business strategy
- Develop and implement recruitment processes (hourly and salary)
- Overseeing the plant recruitment processes
- Accessing the need for training and the designing and implementing training programs according.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships between the company and its unionized employees
- Handling contract negotiations, grievances and arbitration (level 4 and arbitration)
- Overseeing employee relations, including policies, performance management, discipline and terminations
- Ensuring that company procedures comply with employment regulations.
- Managing company’s appraisal system and providing feedback to plant managers.
- Coaching and counseling management on policies and procedures
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
- Develop and lead programs and procedures which promotes a positive employee relations environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment, including labor relations or collective bargaining, is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of HR systems, metrics, employment law, and data-driven decision making.
- Familiarity with Japanese business culture and communication style is a strong plus.
Leadership
- Direct supervisory responsibility for HR staff and professionals.
