Accounting / General Assistant

About the Role

A Japanese-affiliated holding company is seeking a bilingual Accounting / General Assistant to support the Finance & Accounting Manager and executive leadership. This role combines accounting, financial reporting, administrative coordination, and bilingual communication in a collaborative corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

  • Process and maintain accurate accounting records in the ERP system.
  • Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger activities.
  • Assist with month-end closing and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile and process company credit card transactions and payments.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including forecasts, actual results, variance analysis, and reporting packages.
  • Support accounting functions for affiliated U.S. entities, including Sales & Use Tax filings.
  • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Administration

  • Assist with international shipment coordination, including invoices, packing lists, inventory monitoring, and replenishment orders.
  • Support travel arrangements and general administrative activities.
  • Translate documents between Japanese and English, including legal, technical, and corporate communications.
  • Coordinate internal communications and corporate publications with marketing and HR teams.
  • Assist expatriate employees relocating from Japan with their transition and settlement.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5 years of administrative experience.
  • 3–5 years of general accounting experience.
  • Japanese at an idiomatic level is a must. English at Business level. (spoken, written, and reading).
  • Solid knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to translate technical and business documents accurately.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Sage 50 Accounting.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
