Mechanical Engineer (Field Engineering / Project Support)
A growing company serving the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical application support during project development and oversee equipment installation at customer facilities. This role combines engineering, customer support, project coordination, and field installation responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer requirements and provide technical recommendations for equipment, products, services, training, and after-sales support.
- Support project development by estimating project costs, timelines, manpower requirements, and technical scope.
- Assist with customer training on equipment operation and technical procedures.
- Follow up with customers to ensure equipment and services meet performance expectations.
- Supervise equipment installation and coordinate contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Read and interpret equipment layouts and engineering drawings.
- Assist senior engineers and project managers in preparing bid packages and collecting technical project information.
- Record, analyze, and summarize project costs.
- Support on-site project management and verify installation work complies with project specifications and drawings.
- Coordinate technical issues among customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Organize customer and contractor meetings to communicate project progress and resolve issues.
- Coordinate with global suppliers and engineering teams to ensure equipment delivery schedules and smooth project execution.
Qualifications
- College degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment installation, operation, service, and customer support.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with robotic systems, conveyor systems, manual welding equipment, machining equipment, assembly equipment, presses, and test bench equipment.
- Japanese language ability is a plus.
