A Japanese food trading company is seeking a Japanese-English Bilingual Purchasing Agent.

Purchasing

  • Coordinate local purchasing for frozen and dry food related products, including vendor relationship development, quality assurance, price negotiations, transportation logistics, and product development.
  • Coordinate with Los Angeles and New York purchasing departments for transportation and delivery of frozen and dry food products as needed.
  • Create purchase orders based on sales volume and inventory to ensure adequate product availability.
  • Calculate product costs and pricing to determine profit margins.

Inventory & ERP Management

  • Maintain records in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, including inventory adjustments, price changes, and container lists.
  • Review inventory regularly for discrepancies and work with the warehouse to resolve issues.
  • Process receipts and invoices for payment.
  • Coordinate semiannual inventory counts.

Warehouse & Logistics Coordination

  • Work closely with the warehouse department to ensure accurate quantities, satisfactory quality, and proper receiving of purchased goods.
  • Communicate with trucking companies to ensure the proper transfer of goods.
  • Coordinate transportation and delivery with purchasing departments in Los Angeles and New York when necessary.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure food products comply with FDA and USDA regulations by maintaining HACCP and CAPA food safety plans.

Order Processing

  • Receive branch orders and issue invoices.
  • Distribute Ohta Foods fresh fish packing lists to the warehouse and sales teams and manage the receiving process upon product arrival.
  • Collect daily sales orders for Boston Fish, submit purchase orders, and manage the receiving process upon arrival.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend company events and functions outside of normal working hours as required.
  • Complete work within scheduled hours unless prior approval for overtime has been obtained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.
  • Respond to management requests as required.
